An unusual post from us this time – but as we’re approaching Christmas we wanted to tell you about a great charity fundraiser being driven by one of our members, Kevin Alexander, to help build a new Children’s Hospice at The Nook, just south of Norwich, with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
In short, Kevin has a very musically talented family, and the five children (all under 17) have a band – Unity – which has recorded and published a song to raise money for EACH; this charity supports families with children and young people who have life-threatening conditions.
The aim is for the song to make provisional Number 1 position in the UK just before Christmas, so every radio station (including even national stations like Heart and Capital) would have to play it. This means the song sales figures need to go from nowhere to viral and sell over 100,000 copies via iTunes and Amazon. Various mixes are available for ordering now on Amazon and will be released on the weekend of 16th December so that all sales count only in the Christmas week. After just a few days there have been hundreds of pre-orders – please buy it and join the list – it’s only 99p/$1.32/€1.12!
As well as looking after this great family, Kevin’s day job is project management. His experience shines out as he’s done an amazing job of getting a team of volunteers to build the web site, record the song, help distribution and marketing etc. Some of the volunteers are amazingly well connected – Fenia Vardanis, creator of Strictly Come Dancing, the record producer Chris Cunningham, Ed Sheeran’s record label, so this is going to work! But it needs your help as well…….
